Road Trip Entertainment

As most of you know, we recently traveled to Clearwater to check out the area for the first time. My kids are used to road trips, so the thought of 10 hours didn't really phase them, or me; the 5 of us are used to traveling together. A lot of people can't believe that my kids don't have electronics and wonder how they do on road trips. They do GREAT! We do have a DVD player and I usually get a new movie or two.  Their new favorite right now is Punky Brewster. But we usually don't end up watching to much (we only watched 1 hr on our 10 hour trip home).  I made them Road Trip Books for the trip. It kept them quite busy. I also got each child a new book to read (for big kids) or activity book (for little kids).

Here is what I put in their books this time. I found everything online for FREE!

I had a pencil case with a crayons and pencils and a pen on each book.
There were some scavenger hunts and letter word games.

The kids enjoyed this one- find the restaurant

I printed one of these pages for each. I could have printed a couple I think.

Highlights for Kids has several hidden picture pages you can print for free

KrazyDad has GREAT word searches for all levels

I also included several blank pages.
My kids spent HOURS plain M.A.S.H., a made up game about how your life will turn out.

I found these little books on Amazon for about $1.00- $1.50 a piece. They had tons. Hidden pictures, state questions, find the differences, etc. I actually stashed these in my purse; they are tiny. I used them at restaurants. The kids loved them and they are the perfect size!

I hope some if these ideas work for you for your summer travels!

Carson's end of the school year highlights

As I write this Carson is at his last day of Pre-K. He has had a wonderful year, grown so much and made fantastic friends. Will will miss CASA next year for sure!

Pre-K Graduation

As each child received their "Diploma" they announced what they wanted to be when they grow up. Carson wants to be a pool builder who builds pools with watersides up to the clouds.

                          Friends
Carson took soccer and tennis after school this Spring. He LOVED them both!
He and his buddy Jack after the final soccer class.
Carson and one of his best buddies Thomas!

 End of the Year Party!

Yesterday was the end of the year party for the class. They had chik-fil-a for lunch, ice cream sundaes, water balloons and made tie-dye shirts! How much more fun could a preschool class have? What a FANTASTIC year this has been. This class was blessed with a WONDERFUL teacher!!

Meeka's May Highlights

May was a busy, busy month for all of us. Meeka certainly had a lot going on. Here are some of Meeka's May highlights!

Softball

She started out the softball season very timid. She doesn't feel confident when she is not sure of what is going on or what she should do. But as the season progressed, she got better and better and now loves the game! She was especially a great hitter! And she loved playing catcher. She had a great time with her teammates, who were a sweet bunch of girls!

Choir Concert

The school put on a choir concert for K, 2nd and 4th grades this spring...how lucky were we that all the kids were in one concert! Meeka had a soloist part and she did GREAT!
Meeka and Marley and Krish ready for their solos.

Field Day

Field day was Friday, May 8th. It was a very full, hot and FUN day. Field day was very organized (which I loved). I volunteered and got to watch some of Meeka's field games, as well as relax and have Kona Ice with her.

Enjoying Kona Ice!
She has these boys wrapped around her finger.
They followed her like puppy dogs doing exactly what she said.

 Showstoppers Performance

Meeka is in Show Choir and they practice every Wednesday after school. She absolutely LOVES it! Their Spring show was entitled "Happy." Meeka and her friend Brenna had a little solo part together in the song, "Don't Worry Be Happy."

End of the Year Party

Meeka had her Kindergarten end of the year party yesterday. Her class had ice cream sundaes and played with bubbles and chalk. What a GREAT year she had!!! She progressed a lot this year and enjoyed it so much! In the beginning of the year she was not so sure about school, but she grew to LOVE it! She had a WONDERFUL teacher and we will miss her next year!

Montgomery, Alabama Field Trip

Yesterday Logan and I headed on a charter bus to Montgomery, the capitol of Alabama. We had a long full day exploring much of the history of the state. I am so glad that we got to go before we leave Alabama. And thankful for a lot of sweet friends who helped me make it possible to go with him!

Kids on the Capitol Steps

The tour guide had the kids lie down in a circle and look up at the rotunda ceiling
as she told them about the paintings on the ceiling.

The rotunda ceiling

The bus ride.
It took about and hour and 45 minutes to get there on a bus.
We also got a little bus tour of the city of several landmarks which we didn't get to visit.

The schoolhouse in Old Alabama Town.
They had a whole town set up of authentic buildings which they had moved to that location and made into a village. There were actors there portaying real people in history. This was one of my favorite places.

The Bottle Tree
This was made to keep the spirits at bay

Logan enjoyed the history museum a lot; especially all the military memorabilia.

We also got the visit the Rosa Parks Museum; which is located on the exact spot where she was arrested. I enjoyed that museum as well, but no pictures were allowed.

Meeka's Muffins with Mom

Meeka’s class hosted Muffins with Mom this morning. We dined on muffins and juice and the kids gave their moms a little gift they had made; a bookmark.

It was simple and sweet. :)

My mom is special because she helps Arya & Khang. She wants them to learn. But I can't wait to move to Florida.

Meeka's portrait of me

My moms favorite color is yellow. My mom is coming to the muffins for moms. But there's one thing then that my mom doesn't like; whining. But one day my mom let us pick which one, sweet frogs or mellow mushroom.

How Can I Stay Mad?

Meeka brought this note down to me the other night. Gosh, I love that girl, but she is as stubborn as a mule! She has a mind of her own and just does not listen…and it frustrates the daylights out of me! But then she does this…and who can stay mad?!?!? Not me! J

Translation:

Dear Mom,
Even though I don't listen I still love you. But do you forgive me. Sign right here. I really hope you say yes. But even I don't listen you still do a lot of things for me. You help Aria and Kang and copy some papers for us to learn. I love it.
