First Day of School

Here we go again...another year, another state, another new school....

Logan (5th grade), Melina (3rd grade), Meeka (1st grade) and Carson (Kindergaten)

The kids were nervous and excited to start. Its always hard to start a new school. And this school is a little different in the way is laid out; it doesn't have any inside walls. But after meet the teacher day last Friday, they couldn't wait to start!

Carson at his desk on the first day of K
This mama on the other hand had a hard time this year. I sent my baby off to Kindergarten. And YES, I knew the day was coming, but it wasn't going to be this year. I wasn't prepared for it to be this year. But here in Florida I had to send him, so ready or not here we go...yes, there were some tears. In fact I was shaking so bad after dropping everyone off the first day that I had to sit in my car for a few minutes before I could drive home.

Everyone came home all smiles and excited for Day 2, so that makes my heart happy!

And its PRETTY COOL that they get to be together in the SAME SCHOOL for 1 year. The first and only year this will ever happen!!

I have a ton of things to get caught up on, errands to run, cleaning and yard work, but later this week, I plan on sitting down and enjoying the peace and quiet.

Meeka's May Highlights

May was a busy, busy month for all of us. Meeka certainly had a lot going on. Here are some of Meeka's May highlights!

Softball

She started out the softball season very timid. She doesn't feel confident when she is not sure of what is going on or what she should do. But as the season progressed, she got better and better and now loves the game! She was especially a great hitter! And she loved playing catcher. She had a great time with her teammates, who were a sweet bunch of girls!

Choir Concert

The school put on a choir concert for K, 2nd and 4th grades this spring...how lucky were we that all the kids were in one concert! Meeka had a soloist part and she did GREAT!
Meeka and Marley and Krish ready for their solos.

Field Day

Field day was Friday, May 8th. It was a very full, hot and FUN day. Field day was very organized (which I loved). I volunteered and got to watch some of Meeka's field games, as well as relax and have Kona Ice with her.

Enjoying Kona Ice!
She has these boys wrapped around her finger.
They followed her like puppy dogs doing exactly what she said.

 Showstoppers Performance

Meeka is in Show Choir and they practice every Wednesday after school. She absolutely LOVES it! Their Spring show was entitled "Happy." Meeka and her friend Brenna had a little solo part together in the song, "Don't Worry Be Happy."

End of the Year Party

Meeka had her Kindergarten end of the year party yesterday. Her class had ice cream sundaes and played with bubbles and chalk. What a GREAT year she had!!! She progressed a lot this year and enjoyed it so much! In the beginning of the year she was not so sure about school, but she grew to LOVE it! She had a WONDERFUL teacher and we will miss her next year!

Meeka's Muffins with Mom

Meeka’s class hosted Muffins with Mom this morning. We dined on muffins and juice and the kids gave their moms a little gift they had made; a bookmark.

It was simple and sweet. :)

My mom is special because she helps Arya & Khang. She wants them to learn. But I can't wait to move to Florida.

Meeka's portrait of me

My moms favorite color is yellow. My mom is coming to the muffins for moms. But there's one thing then that my mom doesn't like; whining. But one day my mom let us pick which one, sweet frogs or mellow mushroom.

How Can I Stay Mad?

Meeka brought this note down to me the other night. Gosh, I love that girl, but she is as stubborn as a mule! She has a mind of her own and just does not listen…and it frustrates the daylights out of me! But then she does this…and who can stay mad?!?!? Not me! J

Translation:

Dear Mom,
Even though I don't listen I still love you. But do you forgive me. Sign right here. I really hope you say yes. But even I don't listen you still do a lot of things for me. You help Aria and Kang and copy some papers for us to learn. I love it.

Weekend Fun...and more

May is looking to be INSANE...but April is finishing with a bang too! It was a busy week. It finally stopped raining, so we played outside A LOT! We were late to bed, and rushing most nights because we stayed outside so long. But we had a really fun week!

Some cute pic from last week of my baby...

Kindergarten took a field trip to the zoo on Friday.
Meeka and I had a GREAT day together!

On Saturday evening Melina danced at the Italian Festival. We got there and it poured and stormed. However, it cleared up within about half an hour, or so and they were able to dance twice. It was an absolute muddy mess, but we made the best of it. We ate and drank and had a great time together!

Hula-Hoop Champion!
HOMEMADE CANOLI!

Sunday was gorgeous! Meeka has a softball game and they had a little jamboree at the fields for a fundraiser, so we did that too!

Also, Melina got her backhandspring on the FLOOR!
So PROUD of her hard work!

The rope swing and climbing rope were a big hit with the girls.
Melina made it to the top!

Obstacle Course...and into the foam pit!

Meeka chose a Oreo Cheesecake Ice Cream cake! YUMMY!!!

 Happy Birthday To You!
 Make a Wish!
It was IMPOSSIBLE to get 8 girls to look in one direction!
Such a SWEET group of girls!

As a family we went to Cheesecake Factory to celebrate on Saturday evening. Since Michael left on Sunday, and her actual birthday was a busy school day, we improvised!

She LOVED when they sang to her! Her eyes lit up!
(and she wasn't sharing any of that dutch apple cheesecake!)

I surprised her for lunch yesterday at school and brought her a subway meal as a treat.

Meeka finished out her day with dance pictures. She was supposed to have a softball game, but that was cancelled last minute, so we made breakfast for dinner (homemade blueberry pancakes at her request) and sang again with a cupcake that she was going to share with her softball team. Pretty sure this girl had a special day!!

LOVE YOU MISS MEEKA!
